Meet Niykee Heaton, the singer-songwriter who’s ready to melt your mobile
If you’re the kind of person who spends way too much time on social media – which you are, obviously – then you’ll know that there are a few sure-fire ways to guarantee loads of likes and retweets from your online pals. Sepia-toned shots of bland salads, quirky engagements, selfies with Boris Johnson or cute snaps of overweight, roly-poly babies all do the trick (although, to be fair, the last two are pretty much the same thing). Unfathomably hot musicians with sexy selfie addictions go down well too. And who better to prove our point than US Instagram sensation Niykee Heaton? With 1.7 million followers, the
20-year-old, Chicago-born singer-songwriter is a Pretty Big Deal. With so many adoring fans, you might think that the guitar-strumming stunner spends the majority of her time wading through an inbox full of gushing praise and wedding proposals. Well, you might think that, but you’d be wrong. So, so wrong…
Hi Niykee! So, we’re guessing you get a lot of fanmail, right? The majority of messages I get sent are dick pics, and let me tell you: they’re all awful. I genuinely have no idea what’s going on in their heads. They just won’t stop. Have you ever thought about exposing the guys who hit
Calling someone nice is usually damning them with faint praise. Most people would be happier being described as a lunatic than being dismissed as merely nice. But there’s no getting around it – Made In Chelsea’s Binky Felstead is really, really nice. On our shoot, she couldn’t be more accommodating, and on the phone a few weeks later, she even remembers that FHM was going on a date that night. She’s something of an expert, too, seemingly spending her entire time on MIC either on a date, on her way to a date, or talking about a date. We’d try to summarise these dating escapades for you, but we have to confess to not being religious viewers of the show. Up to now, it’s always been on in the background, but we now consider ourselves fully paid-up members of the MIC fan club. That’s how nice Binky is.
First things first: where did the name Binky come from? I’ve been called Binky forever – my family all have nicknames. My brother’s is Bear, and my sister’s is Figgy. I got the best deal. My real name is Alexandra, but nobody calls me that. You and the rest of the MIC cast are obviously known for being pretty posh. What was your upbringing like? I was a total country girl, and I’m still one at heart. I love putting on my muddy wellies and going on long dog walks. I was a bit of a tomboy. Were you always getting into scrapes? I have a big brother and we used to play fight a lot. But I could defend myself. I used to love making my brother cry. So how did a country tomboy end up on a reality TV show? I did a thing for MTV years ago
