FHM Philippines – February 2015 Aiko Climaco has an unusual way of putting people at ease. While our video team was setting up for her interview, the Banana Split beauty suddenly asked us: “Nahihiya ba kayo?” before flashing a megawatt smile. Even with all our experience, we’re not exactly sure how to answer a beautiful woman asking that. It didn’t help that we were still a bit flustered from watching her slay a challenging photoshoot. We quickly gathered our nerves and replied, “No, of course not!” She then cheerfully told us not to worry, and we felt better at once. However, it turns out Aiko still keeps a shy streak in her. “Nahihiya ako!,” she’d say, looking away as she considers a question. What’s a man to do except stop and apologize? So it was a surprise that as the interview progressed, it was she who was playfully grilling us. But we didn’t complain; how often do you get cover girls willing to banter so naturally? How often do you get cover girls who can switch from girl-next-door charmer to unattainable knee-trembling-beauty in-a-swimsuit, so effortlessly? And if a self-proclaimed “shy” Aiko Climaco is already this good at winning our hearts, we can’t wait to see what she does next.
42 FHM FEBRUARY 2015
Welcome back and congratulations on your first solo cover! How are you feeling right now? Masaya and excited! And at the same time ganun pa rin answer ko, nervous pa rin ako. We think you’ve been practicing in secret. Did you enjoy being the undisputed center of attention compared to your first time around? Enjoy talaga itong shoot, pero enjoy rin naman yung first ko kasi may kasama akong girls [sina Jef and Sunshine]. More on kulitan yun, pero this time kasi nandiyan naman kayo lahat, ha ha! Uy! And your show is still going strong Yes, ganun pa rin—Banana Split Extra Scoop every Saturday. Since covering for FHM, have you been able to tap a whole new level of sexiness within yourself? Did you have to psych yourself up? [stops]
nahihiya ako, ha ha! Perhaps being such a seasoned dancer helped out? Well, actually, magkaiba yang model and dancer. Yung model kasi more on posing talaga di ba, and medyo mahirap. Pero kumbaga, na-a-apply ko ping pagiging dancer ko when I’m posing for the camera and I have to move. Nalalaro ko siya—may flow. And we also want to blame—no, thank—dancing for keeping you so fit. Intense, sobra! Effortless posing, perfect body, and according to our trusty makeup artist, your skin is absolutely glowing. We agree. What’s the secret? Syempre Aiko Skin Reveal, ha ha! It’s my new business, and I just started it last year. Puro siya beauty products, for whitening, and pampakinis para sa girls na gusto magpaganda. What was your inspiration for coming up with your own business? Are you working with a partner? It’s my solo business lang kasi sobrang hilig ko magpaganda, mahilig ako sa pampaputi and everything na pambabae. Sobrang vain ko talaga kasi, ha ha! So nag-isip ako: ‘Anong business kaya ang pwede?’ We can’t help but notice that women in showbiz have been taking charge and putting up businesses, sooner than before.
